THE WALL
About The Wall
Each year, as part of the 5 Artists 1 Love Art exhibit, we have a special section called ‘'The Wall'. The Wall is always dedicated to a theme. Past themes included “There goes the Neighbourhood”, “The Civil Rights Movement”, “AfroPunk”, and 'Some of my Best Friends Are Black.'
2025 Theme
This year, our theme is "the culture”.'
"THE"
Denoting one or more people or things already mentioned or assumed to be common knowledge.
"what's the matter?"
“CULTURE”
Encompasses the customs, arts, social institutions, and achievements of a particular nation, people, or social group, as seen in examples like "Caribbean culture."
When we consider the term , "The Culture" within the context of the Black community, it goes beyond the general concept of the word “Culture”. It also embodies unity, pride, activism, music, fashion, literature, history, and more. This term emphasizes a shared experience and understanding that unites the rich cultural diversity within the Black community. This thread of commonality weaves a unique connection as it bridges diverse geographic locations and histories. From Legos to London or Kingston Jamaica,to Kingston Ontario it’s all about “The Culture.”
We invite you to share your thoughts on this theme by creating a painting on a 12x12 canvas with a 2-inch width. Show us what this phrase means to you! Once done, your artwork will be displayed at the prestigious Art Gallery of Alberta. We value and encourage public participation, so this is a chance for your voice and creativity to be heard and seen.

The final date to deliver artwork for the wall is February 14, 2025. To participate in The Wall, email us at 5artists1love@gmail.com with your contact info!
