#Afrofuturism explores the developing intersection of African Diaspora culture with technology. It can be expressed in several media: architecture, art, fashion, literature etc. The famous rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer, and philanthropist Missy Elliot took this aesthetic mainstream. The visuals of her music videos were rooted in Black liberation and empowerment. Their futuristic bent underscored the place that Black folks hold at the heart of the future; both for the world and themselves!
